As part of our world class learning environment, the Specialist Sporting Program provides talented AFL, basketball, netball and soccer athletes the necessary skills to achieve their goals, both academically and athletically.
Athletes are coached and mentored on a regular basis by elite level coaches, all of whom have played or coached at a state, national or international level, with many having worked within professional clubs and with professional athletes.
The program aims to develop the ‘whole athlete’ with a focus on nutrition, physiotherapy, sports psychology, mindfulness and resilience along with regular wellness monitoring.

Each student is provided with a Strength and Conditioning program focusing on developing strength, speed, agility, durability, and preventing injury.
Personalised academic packages for each athlete through career counselling to ensure individual short-term and long-term goals are met, with regular monitoring and feedback.

Step 1 - Complete an Expression of Interest form for SSP
Step 2 - Attend an SSP Information Night session on Wednesday, March 20th in the WHC Performing Arts Centre from 6-7pm or 7-8pm
Step 3 - April 29th - May 3rd: SSP Trials will be held, and only our local students residing in the Western Heights College zone can attend.
Step 4 - Complete an Application Form for Year 7 placement by May 10th, and nominate WHC as your first choice of Government School. If you miss the deadline, please contact sophie.trezise2@education.vic.gov.au. If your Grade 6 child attends a Catholic or Independent school, please complete the direct enrolment form and submit it to the front office; attention Sophie Trezise.
Step 5: After May 20th, SSP Offers will be given to successful local students (students outlined in Step 3)
Step 6 - After July 18th: Offers of enrolment to WHC will be sent out.
Step 7 - Those who have accepted an offer of enrolment will be invited to attend the SSP trial of their nominated sport.
Step 8 - Attend a SSP trial, which will be held between August 7th-15th.
Step 9 - After August 26th: Offers into the Specialist Sports Program will be emailed.
Step 10 - A non-refundable deposit for Year 7 2025 due.
