Key Questions

Minimize

The process of choosing a secondary school for your child can be time consuming and exhaustive. For some families already happily associated with a school, the decision is possibly already made. For others, particularly in those cases where the issue of secondary schooling has arisen for the first time, there are many issues to consider:

Some of the questions you might ask include -

* Am I seeking broad curriculum?
* Do I want my child to develop in a co-educational setting?
* Is firm discipline important?
* Am I seeking a school committed to uniform?
* Do I want my child to have access to state of the art computer hardware and software?
* Am I seeking a school which emphasises community values and promotes responsible behaviour?
* Do I want my child to be in a caring school environment, which ensures the safety and security of each individual?
* Am I looking for a school where student achievement is valued and celebrated?

If you have answered YES to most or all of these questions, then the combination of our College goals and your family priorities provide an ideal environment for the achievement of desired outcomes for your son/daughter.

Opportunities

Minimize

Students of Western Heights College enjoy a broad range of co-curricular opportunities. A highlight of the College program is our participation in the Rock Eisteddfod. In 1998, the College was successful in winning the State final at Melbourne Park in only our third year in the competition.

In each alternative year, the College is involved in the State-wide spectacular, Joining the Chorus, allowing students to participate in singing, dancing and body percussion performances with students from many schools around the state.

In recent years, students have enjoyed the opportunity to travel to our sister school in Tewksbury, Massachusetts in the USA, as well as Japan and France.

The College has recognised the importance of Information Technology in the world of the next millennium and provides extensive access to computer hardware and software, including the Internet.

Students enjoy the opportunity to participate in intra- and inter-school sport, including the prospect of competing all the way to State final level.
